Ask anyone in Queen West where to find real Indian roti and the same name keeps coming up: Mother India Roti. We've been on Queen Street West since 2001, and in that time our griddle has barely cooled.
Fresh dough, hot tawa, every order
A great roti starts long before it reaches the plate. Ours is rolled thin and cooked to order on a screaming-hot tawa so it puffs, blisters and stays soft. Nothing sits under a lamp — you get it the way an Indian household would serve it.
Home-blend spices
Flavour is the other half. We grind and balance our own masalas in-house rather than buying pre-mixed blends, and everything is 100% preservative-free. That's why our curries taste like home cooking, not like a factory.
Two decades, two kitchens
What began as one Queen West kitchen is now two, with a second home on St Clair Ave W in York. Guests still travel from across the GTA for a plate of roti and butter chicken — and we still make each one fresh.
